September 28, 2025: Killarney

We have been going for convenience this past week, and breakfast at the hotel is one of those conveniences.  It might be more than we really need or cost a few more Euros, but under the circumstances, it's what works for us.  This morning's breakfast was French Toast with bacon.  It was a decent portion and very tasty.

Off we went downtown, again.  It was a lazy, quiet Sunday in town.  The churches were all still in service.  Here is St. Mary's Church of Ireland (not to be confused with St. Mary's Cathedral).

Later, the coffee shops all seemed to be buzzing with locals and tourists enjoying pastries and a cup to decide on their plans for the day.

On our way back to the hotel, I noticed this dog wash.  Yes, if you can do your laundry on the side of a street, why not be able to wash your dog, too?  The tag line on the wash stand: "A Clean Dog is a Happy Dog."

We have found our own favorite coffee shop, Rí-Rá, a drive through coffee shop near our hotel.  When I asked this morning what makes their coffee so much better, their quick response was, "because it's made with love."

Today was spent on organizing. We have decided to put Bill's backpack into his suitcase since he shouldn't carry it anyway.  My pack will have all we need on tomorrow's bus and the flight home.

We opted for no lunch and an early supper tonight at the hotel bar.  The manager, who has been there most nights, came over and struck up a conversation with us.  Before long, he learned about our detour and that we are leaving tomorrow.  When he delivered our drinks, he said he covered them for us and that he appreciated our patronage.  Kaynes Bar will get a great review from us, based on the quality service and delicious food.  One of tonight's specials was Irish Beef and Yorkshire Pudding.  We both enjoyed the tender beef and fixings, then also ordered dessert.  We have really enjoyed our time here, and look forward to coming back!

Yes!  Two desserts, and we actually shared them!

Tomorrow, we go to Baile Átha Cliath (Dublin).
