He also isn't sleeping well these days. There is a dementia patient nearby with days and nights mixed up. This keeps everyone awake. Then, a discovery was made with Bill's meds. The diuretic shot they have been giving Bill to reduce the inflammation has been scheduled for 6pm. With that timing, has been up to the bathroom many, many times in the evening. He did talk to a nurse about that this morning, and she will reschedule it for 2pm. We hope this will help with creating a more settled evening. I just really want to get him to the hotel for a couple proper days rest.
The lovely woman who takes the supper order came to see what Bill wanted tonight. His appetite isn't that grand and she has been most accommodating, ensuring he will get something that suits his limited tastes right now.
Dr. Patricia and a member of the surgical team came to check on Bill. Patricia will take blood. The CRP levels have to go down by 60 points to get discharged. 🤞 Dr. Haddi also removed the diuretic from his meds. Yay!
Bill spent much of this afternoon resting. The room is excessively warm, he doesn't have much of an appetite, and he is only getting three or four hours of sleep a night, at best. No permission yet to have a shower, due to his incisions, yet we are hopeful!
In the meantime, I have been exploring options for a rental car for our last week. Riding a bus or train likely won't offer him the comfort or the ability to manage luggage that being in a car can provide. Although, my driving could cause him more stress!😂 Having the ability to stop wherever we like and take our time is promising.
Prayers have been answered! Bill's labs have come back and his CRP has dropped to 114. Dr. Patricia consulted with Mr. Owens, and he is willing to discharge Bill with the knowledge that he will regain strength and healing with better sleep.
This is Dr. Patricia. She has been a part of Bill's team since the first day.We couldn't pack his bags fast enough after Bill's last dose of IV antibiotics, we said our goodbyes and gratitude to everyone we could. We look forward to making a trip to Hannie Agnes' in Dingle to visit Bill's roommate, David next time we come to Ireland. He has been quite the gem!
A wonderful porter brought us down to the main entrance where our cab was waiting. It's wonderful here. Although Ireland does not allow for Uber drivers due to insurance reasons, they do use the app to call cabs. As we were approaching the hotel, this glimmer of a rainbow was all I needed to see to know everything would be ok.
After arriving at the hotel, Bill required a couple of stops to rest. As soon as we got to the room, he had a rest. I gave him his peace and got some supper.
It was time for a shower when I returned to the room. This was followed with a celebratory wrist band cutting and red light therapy. I am so grateful we have this resource to help with any aches and pains.
We are both pooped and ready for bed.
