Day 15 - Ft. William to Edinburgh

Here is a rather uneventful breakdown of our transition day from Ft. William to Edinburgh. We had a 10:15 checkout time at Myrtle Bank Guest House, which allowed for us to enjoy breakfast before getting ready to pack up. We only had a 15 min walk down to the train station, so why not walk? We did a little window shopping and meandering our way to the train station, since we still had an hour wait to board.

While waiting, I saw this sign in the shop. I thought it was cute.

We had about a 3.5 hr ride to Glasgow on what seemed to be the milk run. It was wonderful to take in some of the views from our hike from this perspective. One station we stopped at was Corrour. This station is only accessible by train. The only road access is if you are from the area and access is only with a key code! Corrour has many miles of hiking trails and a tea room/restaurant to enjoy.

While on the train, we made conversation with a couple who were from Vancouver Island. Turns out, he was born and raised in Innisfail. As we continued our conversation, we discovered his sister and I went to college together. Small world!

We made our transfer at Glasgow Queen Street Station to get to Edinburgh. Once we arrived, we grabbed what seemed like the last cab for the short ride to our Airbnb for the next 3 nights. It's a 3 bedroom apartment that is a short walk to everywhere we need. I didn't get any other pictures, but you get the gist. Overall, this lodging was a disappointment. It was quite obvious to us that there had been water damage to the unit that we were not aware of (neither was the owner, apparently). This led to overall discomfort with the accommodation.

The four of us wandered to the Co-op around the corner for a few breakfast items. We still have a few snacks left, so we didn't need much. Then, Bill and I opted to go to a nearby pub for supper. It was slow when we got there, and in no time, it was a hopping place. The bartender was on the spot with his recommendations.

It's amazing how quickly the days have shortened while we have been here! Time for a load of laundry before getting ready for a busy day tomorrow! Night all!
