Here we are! The Bridge of Orchy Hotel served up some nicer breakfast items today. I had poached eggs on avocado toast, while Bill had the traditional Scottish breakfast. 😋 We did some final arrangements, and picked up our packed lunches for today, then brought our bags downstairs, ready to hit the trail. Today, we ventured out into the untamed spaces of Rannoch Moor. There is very little out in this vast and open space. We quickly set off across the bridge, putting the hotel behind us.
Then, we began to make the old military road our trail as we skirted around Loch Tullah and made our first elevation climb of the day, moving toward Inveroran, then on to the Drovers Road. Drovers were livestock handlers, and it was from driving their cattle that many of the roads in this area were formed.
We made our way to Ba Bridge. This bridge was built in the 1700s and offers a pretty view of Buachaille Etive Mor (mountain). We had a quick bite of our lunch there before the wind started picking up. It was getting cold!
As we came upon the last 4km of our journey today, Glencoe Ski Resort could be seen in our left - you will have to look closely for the chair lift!
Our destination could be seen in the distance- Kingshouse Hotel. The view from our window.
