Day 10 - Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy

Well, it went to -2C last night, and we woke to a layer of frost on the grass and the rooftops.

Our breakfast while staying at the Tyndrum Lodges was a takeaway continental breakfast of pastries, juice, yogurt and fruit. It did the job. Because we didn't have check in at our next location until 3pm, we really didn't have to leave early. That also made for a nice day - to get to have a good rest and a slower start! We only had a 10k walk. Here are some of our sights.

We laughed at the sign on this gate!

Looking down through the valley with the approaching fall colors was simply beautiful!

 Going under the rail bridge!

I was all lined up to take a photo of the ridge when this happened!
There are many different livestock gates here.  This was just one way to pass through!

Because it was a short day, why not make a fun clip about Irnbru? We have mixed reviews from our perspective. Not my favourite - way too sweet. Bill did like it, though, and here is his take on it. 😂

We arrived at Bridge of Orchy about 90 min early. We finished off our lunch snacks and stretched at one of the picnic tables on the property, then joined our friends in the restaurant while we waited to check in.

Our rooms are lovely with all the amenities!

We had a 5:30 reservation at the hotel restaurant today. This is the ONLY restaurant in this sleepy little town of about 127 people. Bill and I both had parsnip and apple soup, followed by a deconstructed mushroom, spinach, and ricotta lasagna. Tasty!

Speaking of sleepy, we wasted no time at the restaurant before heading to our rooms to prepare for tomorrow and get to bed. Tomorrow will be a 19.5km hike through Rannoch Moor - the most desolate area of Scotland. We will be packing our puff jackets and raincoats to prepare for any weather that comes our way!
